horchata

on saturday i went to a wine bar with emmanuelle and margueritte. the place was filled with argentinians, columbians and a guy from mexico. i sat down at the bar next to allejandro from columbia, which sparked a flurry of words from eduardo from mexico, who wanted to switch places with allejandro so that he could sit next to me, but eduardo wouldn't move... and on and on... it was a comical and fun. i would have taken pictures but i was too startled to think about my camera...

on sunday i was terribly home sick... no matter where i am though, if i happen upon some mexican food, i always think of california, so instead of moping i headed to a small restaurant that i've been meaning to try: sabor a mexico.

i tried their shrimp burrito and homemade horchata sprinkled with fresh cinnamon. it was divine! i loved their salsa too. my favorite part was listening to the owner tell me stories about living in new york and raising a family while i waited for my food. she was sweet and i was grateful for her stories.
